Dog-Trotters FAQ

Some Frequently Asked Questions

  • How many dogs do you take at a time?
  •
  • We are insured for up to 8 dogs, though we try to limit the groups to 5 or 6 – walking 8 dogs can be a little chaotic, and it’s important we stay in control of them at all times. All dogs are friendly and well-socialised, but if you have a slightly nervous dog we’ll make sure they’re put on walks with calm, older dogs.
  •
  • Where do you walk?
  •
  • We try to keep the walks as varied as possible, but we’re quite limited as it’s important that the car-parks are large and well away from the road. All walks are through the countryside, woods and fields and we ALWAYS stay well away roads and any fields which contain livestock.
  •
  • How long are your walks?
  •
  • Walks are an hour long, though occasionally due to time constraints walks may be closer to 45/50 minutes to ensure we can get to all the dogs on time. However, we will always let you know if we’ve needed to cut the walk short, and on quiet days walks often exceed an hour when time allows.
  •
  • Do you need a key?
  •
  • Many of our clients entrust us with their keys (which we keep safely locked in the van when they’re not being used), or if you prefer you can hide it in a secret location/key safe for us to use.
  •
  • How much notice do you need for booking/cancelling walks?
  •
  • We are very flexible, and understand that every day life can be pretty hectic and change-able. If you need to add, change or cancel a walk at the last minute, we can usually accommodate you, so it’s always worth ringing to see if we have spaces that day. We do ask however, that you let us know which days you need with as much notice as possible so we can effectively organise our schedules.
  •
  • What times are your walks?
  •
  • We do three walks a day, in the mornings, lunchtimes and afternoons – 9am, 11am and 1pm (approximately). When we’re particularly busy we’ll often do a mid-afternoon walk at 3pm too. We will always do our best to fit around your schedule, and if you need your dog picked up or dropped off by a certain time, just let us know. We do, however, have some particularly busy days so if we’re running late or unable to get to your dog by a certain time we’ll always let you know.
  •
  • How and when do we pay?
  •
  • We accept cash, cheques and online transfers - cheques seem to be dying a death nowadays, and most of our clients pay either weekly or monthly by online transfer.
